Red Dawn – A crimson sky over Ballybrit heralds a rainy day according to folklore – according to our folklore the sun should dance in the morning it being Easter…

It being Easter Sunday,
At the dawn, will the sun dance?
Should the clouds chance to be clear
This year to see I will get the chance.
I for the last few have tried
In my efforts have been dismayed
Through work, party, and through sleep
I missed the dance the sun displayed
That my Grandfather said it does
To celebrate the risen Son
Who rose three days after Crucifixion
Victory over death being won…
Peasants belief of days gone by
Yet to see I will get tomorrow to see
For I at that hour shall head to work
Should the sky be kind to me…
Decades apart, generations gone,
Me and my grandfather two
Up to see the sun dance on Easter morning
We are our people, its what we do!

My grandfather James Carty - my father told me his father seen the sun dance on Easter Sunday morning at dawn, as was the peasants belief...
